Mom was an amazingly strong, vivacious and ALIVE woman whom cancer just came and took. I was pissed then (in 2005) and I remain committed to fight cancer in some way. Mom, I'll ride with you in mind every mile in September!

My Story

This September-for the EIGHTH year in a row-I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! I believe this to be a great cause to fight for, even in this small way. I hope to ride a bunch and raise a bunch of funds for he Childrens' Cancer Research Fund.

I believe in this cause and this charitable organization so I've volunteered to not only ride myself but also to get OTHERS to ride with me! So join me! It's easy to sign up. Let's get a group of us going on this challenge!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

I’m getting ready to start the “official” part of the ride Monday. Of course, as usual for here, there’s a big fire getting going (Garnet Fire) with the concomitant air quality issues.

As I say in the video below though, every time I want to start bitching about the riding, heat, or smoke, I just think of some small child and their family going through the cancer experience. Suddenly I have renewed resolve!
