I'm Riding For
Elijah Simpson
This year I am riding to honor the memory of a child, Elijah Simpson, who fought valianately against pediatric brain cancer. Sadly, he was lost to his family and all who loved him in 2017. Federal funding has been canceled for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium, which is an association of 16 academic centers and children’s hospitals dedicated to trials of novel treatments for pediatric brain cancer. When funds such as these are lacking, we are called as private citizens to pitch in to do what we can. I choose to ride for as long as I can, for as far as I can, to help children such as Elijah win more wars in the future against this monster called Cancer.
My Story
This June, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
