I'm Riding For
Thomas Rouse

This year I am riding in honor of all of the kids in the fight and for my dear friend, Thomas Rouse. He was diagnosed in April 2024 with angiosarcoma, a very rare form of cancer. Since his diagnosis, he has undergone multiple surgeries, chemotherapy, radiation, and immunotherapy. He continues to fight courageously, and I am proud to ride in honor of the kids and him.
My Story
I am excited to ride again in the Great Cycle Challenge! This is my seventh year participating, and this year I will attempt my highest GCC mileage goal...475 miles! Thank you to all who have supported me over the years! Together we have raised $20,782.42 and ridden 2,373.8 miles! I'm excited to see what we achieve in 2025!
Cancer has impacted many of my friends and family and is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
Funds raised through my challenge support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support my challenge to give all the kids the brighter futures they deserve. Your support will change little lives. Thank you!

Ride #4
5 Sep 2025I had a solo ride today and added 21 miles to my total! It was a rather breezy morning, which I enjoyed on half of the ride, the other half not so much. π π¨ It was a ride of reflection, prayer, and enjoying Godβs creation. Kelly and I have a bird friend that we have named βMr. GBHβ that we often see when we ride. Today he was incognito π₯Έ π Itβs amazing what you can see when you tune in to what is all around you! I am sure the kids fighting cancer would love to be out riding their bikes instead of all the needles, scans, and treatments they have to endure. Please remember them in your prayers today. I appreciate all of the support and encouragement! Keep it coming! ππ΄ββοΈβ€οΈ

Ride #3
4 Sep 2025I rode with Kelly today! She has been a dear friend for decades, and we always enjoy spinning and chatting. So glad to share some miles with her. π΄ββοΈ With the 16 miles added today, I have 400 miles to go!
I am very happy with the progress Iβve made so far on meeting my mileage goal! I am so thankful for all the support from my Big Wheel friends! ππ΄ββοΈ I have been summoned for federal jury duty in a couple of weeks, so I am pushing hard to get ahead of schedule especially while the weather is cooperating! π
Keep the prayers and support coming! Please remember to pray for the kids in the fight and for Thomas, too. ππ΄ββοΈπ

Ride #2
3 Sep 2025Today was another good day of riding! Some of my Big Wheel friends and I rode 27 miles. It was a gorgeous, sunny day, but the headwind was still huffing! π¨ I am thankful for Lynn pulling/blocking the wind up the big hill! π° He is my biggest cheerleader and supporter! I am most blessed! πβ€οΈ
Keep the prayers and donations coming! Lord willing, I will keep spinning the miles away tomorrow! π΄ββοΈ

Kickoff - Ride #1 - 32.4 miles!
1 Sep 2025Today is Day 1 of the Great Cycle Challenge, and I had a great group of friends from the Big Wheel Cyclists to share my miles with me! This group has faithfully supported me all seven years I have participated in the Challenge. They are a remarkable group! Some have been riding road bikes since the late 70s and are a testament to perseverance! While the headwind was a bit tough today, it is nothing compared to the battle that kids fighting cancer are facing. They should be living life not fighting for it! I am honored to ride for them and for my friend, Thomas Rouse, who is in his own battle with angiosarcoma. Please keep all those fighting this terrible disease in your prayers. Also, I appreciate your prayers for safety and good weather as I ride this month. πππ΄ββοΈπ§‘πβ€οΈ
