My Story
Hey all, Happy September!
Again this month, this year, I am riding 400 miles (+/-) in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
My challenge starts TODAY. (Well not actually today because my bike is in the shop for a tune-up, but this week it starts!) I count my blessing to be able to ride a bike regularly as a 70 y/o, mostly retired power plant guy with two replacement knees and moderate A1C levels. (Basically an old guy with type II diabetes and titanium knee joints). I've been riding for the last 30 years for all the normal health reasons, but every September for the last 5 years I ride to raise a few $ to support kids cancer research. Cancer is out there, it is ugly and hits every age group. Most of us personally know someone that has run headlong into it. Some of you know it has been an exceptionally ugly year in my circle. 🙁
They say every 2 minutes a child is diagnosed with cancer. More children in the U.S. lose their lives to cancer than any other disease. Let that sink in a bit. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
OK, on to the business side of things......
Please support my challenge through my fundraising page:
https://greatcyclechallenge.com/Riders/BobRausa/m
All funds raised will support Children's Cancer Research Fund to develop treatments and find cures for childhood cancers.
THANK YOU to those that have donated in the past, please consider donating again this year! If you haven't done it yet, you know I'll keep hitting you up!
